Bel Esprit Targets The Galaxy Handicap 2013 – Race Preview

March 13th, 2013

Bel Sprinter is set to compete in the Group 1 The Galaxy at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on Saturday March 30, 2013.

The five-year-old has not run since finishing ninth in the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic at Flemington Racecourse  last November.

Bel Sprinter has won six of his 13 race starts and has earned more than $425,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Bel Esprit gelding, who is trained by Jason Warren at Mornington, will be looking to claim his Group 1 glory in the 2013 The Galaxy Handicap.

The Galaxy was originally run as part of Doncaster Handicap Day, which is due to run at Royal Randwick Racecourse on April 20, 2013.

However, from this year the race will take place on Rosehill Guineas Day at the end of March.

Warren is confident that the breathing and barrier issues that plagued Bel Sprinter are behind him.

“To be honest, he’s been an absolute headache,” Warren said.

“But he’s a very, very good horse.”

“He went super … he’s right on track.”

“He’s off to Sydney and Hugh Bowman will ride him in a jumpout up there on Friday week.”

Bel Sprinter will have his first autumn start in the 2013 The Galaxy Handicap after a planned trial next Friday.

The galloper will be looking for a better result in The Galaxy handicap this time around, after placing ninth in last year’s race after starting favourite.
